Somewhere in Golden Valley County, North Dakota

Finding chokecherries such as these is a rare occurrence in eastern Montana/western North Dakota. Rob spotted this cluster of bushes and swore they were grapes. I told him they couldn't be grapes that they must be chokecherries. He backed the pickup up and we took a second look: chokecherries like I'd never seen before. We grabbed the ladder and plastic ice cream pails and began stripping berries off the stem that connects them to the bush.

JeriDobrowski > These are the type of poppies that yield poppy seeds for cakes and rolls. Rob's mother used to raise them. This is the first time we've planted them. Would like to get them established again.
JeriDobrowski > California Poppies

I have another variety of hardy California Poppies growing in a rock garden that have white or albino petals mixed in with the the more common yellowish-orange flowers.

JeriDobrowski > 2009 Lilacs

A June hailstorm three years ago took a toll on all our trees. This is the first year since that we've had much of anything for lilac blossoms. On June 6, we received 3" of snow. It was the first time I've seen snow on lilacs blossoms.
